Catching Up

So I really want to do the 365 days of pictures. But I think what I want more than ever is to be having my camera in my hand as often as physically possible. It’s difficult with my job, but at the same time, it is important for my own mental health. When I went home, that is exactly what I did…I kept my camera in my hand always…here are some of the highlights…Enjoy.

Well…I am going to keep trying to do the 365 days of pictures, here is to make up a week of photos I did not publish.

Grafitti

One of our friends from Michigan came into town and I wanted to find something that wasn’t the typical tourist location. We stumbled upon this place that is on the Garden of the Gods property, but it is off the beaten path. Fun little discovery.

Six Months

Jeff and I have been married for a little over six months now. Loving it. Loving him.

(The picture was taken on our honeymoon shortly after Jeff got his tattoo.)

Projects

So by now you all know that I enjoy taking pictures. I would also like to think I have an eye for composing a shot. (Something that still needs refining). Anyway, there are two projects that have popped up in my mind that I am going to be working on. Before I introduce these projects, I would like you to know that they are an answer to prayer that I could somehow use my skill to help with ministry.

The first opportunity that came to my lap was helping out a college friend raise money to send her and her family over to Africa. I am not too sure when Laura first felt the call to be a missionary, but in her sophomore year, she went to Africa, and I think it is safe to say that part of her heart is still there. She has had a desire to go and God is giving her a little glimpse of what is to come with a 10 day trip to Liberia. So I will be setting up an Etsy account (a website that allows you to sell arts, crafts and vintage things) to sell my photos and all the profit will go to help Laura, her husband and their newborn son go to Africa.

The second is something that is starting more for my own selfish need. I was talking with my friend Abby about how both of us are not very good about intentionally reading God’s word everyday…even every week for that matter. So I thought it would be cool if we could read a book of the bible and take pictures of the visual symbols that are discussed. Now the first book that came to mind is the Psalms. Not too sure if we are going to do this as a book or a blog, but I’ll let you know.

Both of these are still in the planning stages, but keep asking, I’ll keep working.

I went to Old Colorado City today and walked around in the beautiful weather with Abby taking pictures and eating ice cream. Enjoy.

Bike

I rode my bike to work today. Spring is coming!

Becky’s Visit

Here are a few pictures from my sister’s visit to the Springs.

Beauty

It’s fun to see beauty right outside my house.

And the beauty I find within.

And the excitement at what is coming next…

Out and About

For Christmas, Jeff gave me a 35mm lens which is amazing. My camera now comes with me everywhere and I am trying to shoot something everyday. Usually before I go to work I just walk around downtown Colorado Springs and grab a little something to eat. A couple days ago I went to Poor Richards to get a salad. It’s the best thing to grab and go for lunch. Under five dollars you get a chunk of tasty bread and a large salad (even though it is called a small) that contains green beans, black olives, chick peas and the most amazing balsamic vinaigrette. While I was waiting I snapped this shot. Nothing great, I just enjoyed the pizza boxes all stacked up.

Izzy

Here are some photos I shot about a week ago of a little girl that goes to my church. She loved the camera, not the cold wind too much.
